2021 Ford Ranger Redesign Updates

Some things about the Ranger truck were obvious. Ford is not going to let its truck out of discussion about the best model in the market. Currently, Toyota Tacoma and Chevy Colorado are a step ahead with off-road versions. Plus, the pickup is the same one the Blue Oval company produces overseas. The new generation is on the way. The 2021 Ford Ranger will introduce a lot of changes, including a new look and packages. Yes, Raptor is the biggest wish. Nevertheless, there are a few other options in the mix as well – a V6 or a hybrid engine.

There are no trusted sources to confirm any of the rumors. Well, one thing is sure – the US version of the 2021 Ford Ranger will be different from the model for other parts of the world. For example, a 2.3-liter engine is currently the only option in North America and other countries are not eligible to offer this powerplant. On the other hand, diesel is still unavailable for US buyers.

When the next-gen model arrives, we will also see a difference in styling. Some respectable magazines unveiled teaser images of the new Ranger. Nevertheless, that happened a few months ago. Meanwhile, Ford didn’t announce anything new about its mid-size pickup.

Is this what will 2021 Ford Ranger look like?

2021 Ford Ranger Engines: V6 Joins the Lineup, Might be Hybrid

A turbo-four 2.3-liter EcoBoost powerplant is the first choice US buyers will have. The engine is small, but it is pretty powerful with 270 horsepower, which matches outputs of rivals that use a V6 drivetrain. It also adds 310 lb-ft, which is the best in class torque. The engine comes in pair with a ten-speed automatic transmission and the towing capacity is 7,500 pounds. Special upgrades are required to get the truck to the maximum capability.

Outside the US, buyers can find the Ranger with a 2.7-liter petrol unit. But, it is more likely that European and Australian fans will opt for one of the diesel units. It can become available for the North American market. A 2.0-liter turbodiesel seems to be the perfect solution for the 2021 Ford Ranger.

At first sight, everyone knew that Ranger is not going to remain at only one drivetrain in the offer. The redesign will bring a new look, but truckers don’t care too much about it. The proof is Honda Ridgeline, which is the sporty truck with attractive design. However, performance comes first. To enhance everything on the 2021 Ford Ranger, engineers will probably add a V6 unit. The first option coming to our mind is a 3.0-liter displacement, the base for Explorer. But, that is the hybrid configuration that cracks out 320 horsepower. A hybrid truck is a goal, but we doubt the Blue Oval company is going to install the setup Lincoln Aviator is using. Even the F-150 Raptor is not offering 500 hp.

2021 Ford Ranger Raptor

One of the versions fans would sign to see today is the 2021 Ford Ranger Raptor. This package is available across the ocean. In Europe and Australia, the off-road truck is using a diesel engine and special suspension and body upgrades such as skid plates, Fox shocks, and all-terrain tires. Of course, the unique Raptor graphics will make sure you don’t mix it up with some other pickup. The question is – what kind of a drivetrain the US version is going to use. A diesel unit is possible, as well as the V6. Still, Ford will keep this info until the premiere of the off-road truck.

New Look, Interior Accessories

Ranger came back to the US market after the break. The mid-size market was facing tough competition by large SUVs. However, the class survived and now more models are in dealerships. Nevertheless, the US version was the same as the one for the rest of the world. That didn’t get fans excited. But, designers are not wasting time. Like we predicted for the engines, the company will also update the styling of the mid-size truck.

Interior features will depend on the trim level. The truck is available in three trim levels and there are two cab configurations. Still, we would like to see a higher-end Platinum or Limited editions above the Lariat model. But, it will cause the price to go up.

Prices and Release Date

There are no official updates about the new model, but we are sure something is happening. Teaser images and speculations about the engine are not there without reason. The redesign will bump the price of the base version, which is currently under $25,000. Lariat model with CrewCab configuration and 4×4 drive will start above $40,000. We also recommend Bed Utility package with a bedliner and a power outlet. The look might be enhanced with Chrome Package or Black Edition upgrades. FX4 off-road bundle is there until the 2021 Ford Ranger Raptor shows up.
