The upcoming 2019 Renault Alaskan is a pickup based on the Nissan Navara NP300 model. It is Renault’s first light-duty pickup and it offers great towing performance. The Alaskan comes with a five-link rear suspension, a boxed steel frame, and new turbocharged powertrain. The ride feels smooth with much fewer vibrations and noise.
While Renault is launching new Alaskan to compete with Mitsubishi L200 and VW Amarok, many experts dubbed Alaskan as “new Nissan Frontier”. The Alaskan will be built in Spain, Argentina, Mexico, and Columbia. It is speculated that the sales will start in Columbia and then spread to the other markets around the world.
2019 Renault Alaskan is similar to the Nissan Navara model
The 2019 Renault Alaskan owns its own personality but it still looks like a redesigned version of Nissan Navara. This is nothing odd, as Nissan and Renault are well-known business partners. Up front, a bold grille with nice horizontal inserts features a large Renault badge. The new headlights and chrome work help this pickup to look modern and the front bumper is new in order to help Alaskan to face tough terrain.
The chromed roof is now easier to reach thanks to side steps. At the back, the bed comes with a new tie-down feature, and cargo management tools that are Nissan using on its models. Out there you can even find a 12-volt power port.
2019 Renault Alaskan Interior
The overall interior’s design and layout are made around the infotainment and HVAC systems. Just like Nissan Navara, the 2019 Renault Alaskan comes with left and right-hand drives. That means the dashboard can easily be mirrored. Two analog gauges that are showing engine information and speed are looking modern and two smaller gauges will provide fuel and temperature information. Even a small driver information screen is available.
A storage cabin comes with a 12-volt power outlet that is perfect for a plug radar detector. Below the center stack, there is another power plug, but also some switches for traction control and rotary knob as well.
2019 Renault Alaskan Powertrain Options
The 2019 Renault Alaskan will hit the markets with two engine options. The main powertrain is the 2.3-liter twin-turbocharged four-cylinder that returns two horsepower outputs, 160 HP and 190 HP. However, there is no yet official numbers of torque. On the other hand, those two engines are of the same kind, the performance is much different.
A smaller turbo unit spools up more quickly while larger turbo spools slowly but it sends a larger amount of boost and is generating more power. Customers can opt for a 6-speed manual or 7-speed automatic transmission. Renault announced that both gas and diesel engines of 2.5-liter powertrain will also become available.
2019 Renault Alaskan Price and Release Date
While there is not a single information about the pricing of new 2019 Renault Alaskan, there is a rumor that this pickup will cost in line with Ford Ranger, around $35,000.
Higher trim levels and more loaded options could raise the price to a $45,000. The new Renault’s pickup will hit the dealerships later this year.
