2021 Chevy Silverado 1500 (Redesign, Interior)

It’s been two years since the Silverado hit the new generation. But, the latest happening will make the company thinking about the big refresh. Ram 1500 outsold the Silverado 1500 in 2019, and it triggered the alarm. New editions are not helping. The redesign will make the 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500 the biggest rival to Ford F-150 again.

The new model is postponed. So, the truck for 2021 is coming unchanged. But, here we are talking about the changes the company prepared. The 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500 will be changed, no matter if it appears as the 2022 YM eventually. This is not the only vehicle by GM that takes damage because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Camaro muscle car and Equinox compact crossover are already delayed for the 2022 season.

When the new Silverado appeared, fans were sure the truck can catch up with its archrival. Everything was there – fresh styling, new engines, including diesel, and interior features. Nevertheless, something went wrong and General Motors is ready to take action and restore the popularity of its best-selling vehicle.

2021 Chevy Silverado 1500 Specs

All eyes at the premiere of the new Silverado were on the turbodiesel engine. After so many years, the truck was available with an oil-burner. Everything was so promising. The Duramax unit produced 280 hp and 480 lb-ft of torque. it is more than Ram 1500 and Ford F-150 were getting from their diesel units. But, converted to towing capacity, a 3.0-liter turbodiesel is nearly 3,000 pounds behind Powerstroke and EcoDiesel. So, this is one of the first things engineers will have to improve on the 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500.

A 2.7-liter turbo-four engine is still a surprise. Nevertheless, it offers another option to buyers with 310 hp and an enhanced fuel economy. Standard configuration includes a 4.3-liter. Buyers, when choosing a V8, will rather go with a more capable powerplant. A 5.3-liter unit is perfect for a working truck. It delivers 355 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque, as well as two possible automatic transmissions – eight- and ten-speed. If this is not enough, truckers can get the most from a 6.2-liter engine. In this case, 420 ponies and 460 pound-feet of twist are ready to rock.

New Packages Postponed, Still Coming by the End of 2021

The company is not going to change trim levels for the 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500. Nevertheless, General Motors prepared new optional packages for some versions. For the LT and RST, Silverado now offers the All Star Edition Plus and Texas Edition Plus packages. These two are pretty much the same, but not both will be available at the same dealerships for most states. HomeLink system is standard, as well as power outlets for cabin and bed. An 8-inch multimedia screen, USB ports, and HD cameras are added. On the RST trim, there are also premium audio system and the Texas bundle includes special badges.

The LTZ truck comes with its own Premium Texas Edition. As its name suggests, buyers are getting even more features and options. All the features from the standard trim levels and Texas package are carried over. The combination of these two will make the pickup more convenient and safer.

2021 Chevy Silverado 1500 Trim Levels

These three trim levels are under the spotlight because of the changes for the upcoming season. The rest of the lineup will be unchanged, for now. The base trim is Work Truck and the next level is Custom model with 20-inch wheels and cruise control. It is also available with the Trail Boss package, as well as the LT edition. At the top of the lineup is the High Country version with premium upgrades and the price that makes the 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500 a luxury truck.

There are a lot of other optional upgrades available for this pickup truck. For example, the company recently introduced the 6-way Multi-Pro tailgate. Not too long after that, the heavy-duty segment presented the Trailer camera. This will make a work with the 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500 much easier. Of course, there are also different cab and bed configurations available for buyers. Still, GM misses one important piece of the lineup – an off-road version that will compete with Ford F-150 Raptor. Spy photos showed the Silverado under heavy camo, just after the debut of the new generation. Enthusiasts said “This is it” and fans were guessing if the performance truck is going to be called ZR2 or Reaper. Now, it seems that off-road truck is not a priority. The new Silverado will focus on the interior and exterior changes.
