2022 GMC Hummer EV Pickup Truck Full Review

The 2022 GMC Hummer EV is the next star of the truck market. General Motors is trying to get back to the game with the electric pickup. Silverado is no longer the main rival to the Ford F-150. Ram 1500 is the second best-selling truck in the US. This triggered alarm and GM reacted with something different. The EUV is definitely going to warm up interest, especially with the star that was chosen to advertise the new Hummer. The basketball GOAT Lebron James is going to be one of the first persons to drive the electric truck.

The upcoming EV is not all about the purely electric drivetrain. General Motors announced a few cool features for its truck. For example, the vehicle will be able to move like a crab. The short video posted by the company is showing the incredible off-road skills of the 2022 GMC Hummer EV. The Extract Mode will lift the body by 6 inches and underbody cameras are scanning the terrain.

All in all, we didn’t expect anything usual. Well, the electric pickup is special by itself. With all the options the GM is preparing, we might see things that other rivals will hardly match. At this point, Tesla Cybertruck is the only EV in this market. But, Ford and Toyota are working on their electric trucks as well.

2022 GMC Hummer EV Range, Specs

The upcoming electric truck is going to cover up to 350 miles in a single charge. The US truckmaker is working on an advanced charging system that will be able to restore a battery in 10 minutes for at least 100 miles of the ride. So, a short coffee break, and you will be ready to continue the trip. However, the recharging points and network are still not spread to fulfill all the needs. SO, sometimes you will have to get off the route to make this quick-charge possible.

Either way, with 350 miles, the battery should offer enough life to take you from point A to point B. Plus, the drive is going to be pretty fun with 1,000 horsepower. But, the trucks are there to tow, so drivers are more interested in this segment. Besides the high capacities, the 2022 GMC Hummer EV will be able to haul off the road and in tough terrains. The pickup is going to challenge the Tesla with 0-60 acceleration results. More than 1,000 ponies will make the truck stop the clock in under 3 seconds.

Extract Mode

CrabWalk, Extract Mode

General Motors already unveiled some cards, and these are pretty cool. CrabWalk allows the 2022 GMC Hummer EV to move diagonally. All four wheels will push the tempo at the same time, moving the truck around obstacles. Well, you can use this feature only at low speeds. The electric utility vehicle also has a lot of underbody protection and the adaptive suspension allows a better steering.

The Extract Mode is another cool feature that will make the Hummer beat any challenge off the road. The company is not making too many details available, except that the truck is going to be lifted by 6 inches above the ground. Even the most popular off-roaders are not going to sit so high.

Styling, Features, First Edition

Actually, the first 2022 GMC Hummer EV will be called Edition 1. The first limited amount of trucks was already sold out, even at the price of $112,600. The good thing – the destination is included. The electric truck is going to feature an advanced autonomous drive system, called Super Cruise driver assistance. We’ll see how far the GM is ready to go with the self-driving mode and all the accessories available with that one.

The future plans for the 2022 GMC Hummer EV are to turn it into an SUV. Still, there are no details on this conversion. Well, the SUV is going to copy most of the features available for the pickup and just turn the body into a new styling. Engines and self-driving accessories will also be there.

How Much 2022 GMC Hummer EV Is Going to Cost?

The base version of the electric pickup is going to wear a price tag of around $75,000. Each additional motor and higher trim level will add about $10k. Edition 1 is the most expensive unit with the limited edition packages. Still, a six-digit price tag will fend off many fans and buyers. On the other hand, there are no more available units at the moment. So, to buy another one, you should wait for more updates.
