2023 GMC Canyon AT4X Shows a Lot of Upgrades

The new 2023 GMC Canyon AT4X is the company’s latest off-road model, and it appears to be more aggressive than the traditional Canyon pickup. It will go on sale sometime in 2022. This version sports a proven V6 engine and a 6-speed automatic transmission. It does, however, contain several features not seen on the ZR2.

Furthermore, the AT4X’s interior is quite lavish, matching the well-known Denali trim level. Soft leather upholstery, a bigger touchscreen option, and upgraded safety features enhance the cabin. This is all we know so far about this model. The manufacturer will also introduce a new Denali Ultimate trim level and the new Canyon will hit the markets later in 2022.

GMC Canyon AT4X Will Produce Over 300 HP

The 2023 GMC Canyon AT4X is an off-road truck, sharing a lot of things with the Chevrolet Silverado ZR2. However, Canyon could arrive with a new 2.7-liter engine, developing 310 horsepower. On the other hand, a potent 3.6-liter V6 will be on offer for sure. This unit is capable of producing 308 horsepower and a torque of 275 lb-ft. However, this unit comes with a 6-speed automatic transmission.

The AT4X sports a new architecture and improved suspension, as well as electronic locking differentials in the front and rear. The truck has a payload capacity of 1,430 pounds and a trailering capacity of roughly 8,000 pounds. In summary, the AT4X will surely become one of the most capable off-roaders in the pickup truck class. More details will become available in the coming weeks.

Interior Gets Luxury Treatment

The upcoming 2023 GMC Canyon AT4X provides a very modern and roomy cabin. The interior of the new trim level will be decorated in the same “Obsidian Rush” color scheme as the Denali trim. Unrivaled comfort is provided by the excellent leather upholstery with a white accent and red contrast stitching. The AT4X will, according to what we know, offer a lot of premium stuff, like the current Denali version.

However, the new Denali Ultimate variation will now represent the top-of-the-line trim level. The luscious leather is accentuated by attractive ash wood trim, and the front seats are 16-way power-adjustable and massaging. A 15-inch touchscreen and an excellent Bose sound system are also standard. Of course, GM will provide even more standard equipment.

Spy Photos

First spy photos of the 2023 GMC Canyon AT4X are already here. We can instantly spot new styling, including the lighting system. Moreover, the prototype wears updated headlights and LED signatures. Unlike the Colorado ZR2, Canyon AT4X will sport vertical LED strips, which look premium. The truck seems to be more angular and it also comes with new wheels. There are new 33-inch Goodyear tires and this variant will offer MultiMatic DSSV dampers.

Because of many changes, the incoming 2023 GMC Canyon AT4X is more enticing than the standard model. This model is the pinnacle of GMC’s portfolio, outperforming the present GMC Canyon AT4. The shock absorbers on the Colorado ZR2 and Silverado ZR2 were similar. Furthermore, these dampers include independent springs that work together to increase the maximum travel of the front suspension. AT4X is a more off-road-oriented trim level than Canyon AT4. Thanks to that, it looks slightly more aggressive and definitely more premium.

2023 GMC Canyon AT4X Price and Cost

The upcoming 2023 GMC Canyon AT4X will be available in dealerships next fall. The price of this premium off-road pickup truck will start at over $40,000. The AT4 variant will cost slightly below that.
