The brand-new 2023 GMC Sierra EV will hit the dealerships shortly after the Chevrolet introduces its Silverado EV truck. This means the debut will happen at some point during next year, with sales starting shortly after that. So far, GMC only revealed the front fascia of the approaching Sierra EV.
And like the base Sierra model, the electric variant will be mechanically identical to the Silverado EV. The production is about to begin, in General Motors’ plant in Michigan. Here’s everything you need to know about the new Sierra EV pickup truck.
GMC Sierra EV Exterior Design
The upcoming 2023 GMC Sierra EV will be a completely new and truly unique truck. Because it is an electric model, this model should receive more attention. The grille will be closed, and the headlights will be modern LEDs.
We don’t know what trim levels GMC will offer, but the base model will almost certainly be more functional than the current Sierra. The GMC Sierra EV, unlike the Hummer EV, is designed to be a daily driver. In any case, expect to be very premium both inside and out.
Interior Includes Super Cruise Technology
The 2023 GMC Sierra EV is equipped with higher-quality materials and a higher level of comfort than the standard model. It will almost certainly feature a more modern interior and the same layout. Additional technology and a myriad of driver aid devices are also possible.
Last year, GMC redesigned the base model and included new standard features. The automaker now offers a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Bluetooth connection, and USB ports. The highlight, of course, will be GM’s breakthrough hands-free Super Cruise driving technology. When an all-electric truck arrives, we may expect even more luxury.
Up to 400 Miles of Driving Range
The manufacturer will very definitely use the same Ultium battery pack as the Hummer EV and Silverado EV. The 2023 GMC Sierra EV comes standard with a single-motor rear-wheel-drive powertrain, with two- or three-motor options available in higher trim levels.
However, there have been no reports on the capacity of the Ultium battery, but we assume GMC will provide a range of battery capacities. Smaller batteries, according to some estimates, can travel more than 200 miles on a single charge, and larger batteries can travel 400 miles. Fast charging is almost probably going to be an option as well. Unfortunately, we don’t know how much power the Sierra EV will produce. Silverado and Sierra will also share the same features such as the rear-wheel-steering system and the fixed glass roof.
2023 GMC Sierra EV Release Date, Price
The new 2023 GMC Sierra EV will debut at some point in 2022. This all-electric pickup truck will be manufactured in the General Motors’ Factory Zero factory in Michigan. The price is not available yet, but we expect the upcoming Sierra EV will cost at least $65,000 and probably even more than that.
