A new pickup from Jeep may be released in the coming months. We’re referring to the forthcoming 2023 Jeep Comanche. Jeep now only sells the mid-size Gladiator type of pickup truck. Nearly 40 years after being retired, the Gladiator truck made a comeback in 2019. With the Comanche model, the Toledo-based automaker is apparently prepared to enter the tiny pickup truck market.
It will, according to what we heard, be a compact pickup. Jeep will undoubtedly compete with Ford Maverick, a model that gained instant success. Comanche, on the other hand, will be more sporty and slightly different from the competitors.
Sporty Styling
According to reports, the forthcoming 2023 Jeep Comanche will be a unibody truck. You should be aware that Jeep has employed this strategy previously. The Jeep Cherokee’s unibody architecture served as the foundation for the prior Comanche’s construction. The future Comanche, however, will be a smaller vehicle, necessitating the use of a different frame, per the most recent rumors.
Unofficial reports state that the Jeep Renegade will serve as the basis for the smaller variant. The same configuration would apply, and the styling would be inspired by the small crossover. The body would look similarly to a traditional pickup truck, with the same front end. The upcoming Comanche will reportedly have a sportier appearance than previous small pickup trucks, according to initial rendering images.
Jeep Comanche Interior
Everything we currently know about the inside of the 2023 Jeep Comanche is wild guessing. The dashboard should feature the same design as the one inside the Jeep Renegade. This is a very simple design with lots of technology features. In addition, despite some speculations to the contrary, the Comanche model will almost certainly include a double cab configuration, which is great for commercial use.
As we said earlier, the cabin must be completely furnished with modern conveniences. It’s important to keep in mind that the Renegade will receive a mid-cycle upgrade the following year that will have new infotainment with a bigger display and a variety of additional amenities.
Under the Hood
The forthcoming 2023 Jeep Comanche will undoubtedly have two engine options. The first option makes sense; it has a 150 horsepower, smaller, 1.3-liter turbo-four engine. However, this engine may produce up to 180 horsepower in some other versions. There is always a chance of a hybrid model. Given that the Ford Maverick truck already includes a hybrid engine as standard equipment, it makes total sense.
Some reports claim that the Jeep Grand Cherokee will use the same hybrid drivetrain as the Renegade and Compass SUVs. Diesel engine is still just a rumor. The ideal possibility is a 1.6-liter turbodiesel engine, but we’ll have to wait till Jeep makes the first formal announcement.
2023 Jeep Comanche Launch Date and Cost
It is hard to believe that the brand-new 2023 Jeep Comanche will cost like the Ford Maverick. We expect a slightly higher price, starting at about $23,000. Reportedly, a new compact pickup will hit the markets in the first quarter of 2023.
