2024 Jeep Gladiator Could Get All-Electric Powertrain

It seems that everyone loves mid-sized pickups. It is a good thing then that the new 2024 Jeep Gladiator is coming. If there is something that Jeep does well, it’s building good off-roaders. The new Gladiator is no exception to that rule. The pickup is ready and equipped to take on the adventurous path. And it can do it quite well.

The interior is managed properly and should offer maximum comfort, even on the bumpiest roads. The exterior is poised to stay the same with minor mechanical improvements. It’s all in order to improve the off-roading experience. The powertrain options might change a bit. But let us take a look at what the new Gladiator might look like.

Jeep Gladiator Interior Changes

We expect some minor improvements in the 2024 Jeep Gladiator interior. Seating is a big issue. It needs more cushioning and back support to make the bumpy rides enjoyable. Also, they could introduce a brand-new stereo system. The dashboard is fully digital, which is a nice surprise.

Infotainment is a 12-inch screen with standard connectivity. Hands free driving might be offered, but we must wait and see if Jeep makes their own or borrows one. All Gladiator models are full-sized four-door trucks. There are convertibles and models without doors. This is a nice feature where you can customize your model to the smallest detail.

Mild Facelift Should Happen After All

In the 2024 Jeep Gladiator, we get an aggressive-looking and reliable pickup. It is capable and ready to take on off-road driving. As standard, you get beefy all-terrain tires wrapped around lightweight 19-inch wheel rims. Ground clearance is above 9 inches and makes sure nothing is stuck under the truck.

Bumpers give it an angry look and they are prominent. They have hook and winch capability. The front mesh is the standard Jeep front fascia with vertical lines and air intakes. The circular headlights are still there.

Under the Hood

We all know that the 2024 Jeep Gladiator is going to be a capable off-roading truck. This is due to the many tools in its arsenal, one of which is a sturdy and capable powertrain. Even the harshest environments do not appear to affect Jeep vehicles. There is going to be a 2.0-liter engine. This is a turbo four-cylinder engine with a Torque Flite transmission with eight gears. It can produce 375 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. These are great numbers considering Gladiator’s size.

The extra torque really shows its value off-road. But this is just a part of a bigger PHEV hybrid powertrain. It has a dual motor setup, one for each of the axles. Tesla went overboard with three motors in the Cybertruck. Rivian announced they will use four, one for each wheel. These motors can even power the Gladiator without any fuel for some 40 miles. which might come in handy when there is no gas station in sight. They also make the engine last much longer by reducing direct stress on it.

There is no full electrification happening as of now, which is a surprise. Perhaps the next generation might introduce a new platform to accommodate all the electric powertrain components. There is also the good old 3.6-liter V6 with 285 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. This engine comes with an eight-speed automatic transmission. We also have a 3.0-liter diesel V6 with 260 horsepower and 440 pound-feet of torque. All are good choices for a mountain climbing pickup.

Fuel Economy

The 2024 Jeep Gladiator offers decent mileage due to its size. Manual transmission models get 16 mpg in the city and 23 on the open road. The estimate for automatic ones is 16/22 mpg. The diesel gets much more than that, 22 mpg for city driving and 28 on the open road. The introduction of an electric model may improve these figures.
