2024 RAM Dakota In-Depth Review

After all, the impending 2024 RAM Dakota is coming to the dealerships. RAM has announced officially this mid-size pickup truck, albeit the company has not revealed many specifics. According to the popular automaker, the mid-size pickup truck segment represents the brand’s “best opportunity.” There have already been numerous rumors about the Dakota model. It appears that this truck will not happen this year, after all. This model is expected to appear as a 2024MY, which is surprising.

Dakota was available more than a decade ago, and the return is now more likely than ever. It will compete directly with products like the Toyota Tacoma, Ford Ranger, and GMC Canyon. Some rumors also point to a high-performance Dakota SRT model, which would be fantastic to see. A hybrid version is also a possibility.

RAM Dakota Will Look Closer to the RAM 1500 Pickup

The upcoming 2024 RAM Dakota will be similar to the Ram 1500 pickup truck. We’re not surprised because this is the most reasonable conclusion. Dakota is, of course, a smaller truck, but it will have a distinct and modern appearance. Because the Dakota and Ram 1500 share the same body lines, the design language is easily identified.

Some of the exterior features are practically identical. The front fascia is distinguished by a modern trapezoidal grille and standard LED headlights. Dakota has different doors and fenders than the Ram 1500. The bumpers, wheels, and exterior colors are all distinctive. The rear section has LED taillights and looks quite elegant. Dakota, as previously stated, would be a mid-size pickup. More details will become available later this year.

Interior Details

Throughout the interior, the same concept can be found. The interior design of the new 2024 RAM Dakota will be identical to that of the Ram 1500. This is a beneficial move because the interior of the Ram 1500 is highly modern and upright. The comfort level is high, and we predict a variety of convenient features. Dakota will, in fact, get a new infotainment system, improved driver-assistance technologies, and much more.

The biggest upgrade is the 12-inch touchscreen. Contrary to popular opinion, we believe that this unit will be optional rather than standard. The Dakota model will have a roomy cabin and lots of customization. A digital instrument cluster will be available, because the goal is to create a modern pickup vehicle. Of course, upper trim levels will deliver optional features such as Wi-Fi and even a panoramic sunroof.

Powertrain Options

A body-on-frame truck is the most plausible way for a new 2024 RAM Dakota to come. It could be based on the chassis of a reduced Ram 1500, enabling the class-exclusive fitting of a V8 engine. Furthermore, it may share a platform with the Jeep Gladiator. It’s also possible that the Dakota may be reincarnated as a lifestyle pickup like the Hyundai Santa Cruz. Stellantis already offers this type of pickup in Central and South America.

It is known as the Fiat Toro, or the RAM 1000 in the rest of Latin America. For the time being, a 3.6-liter V6 petrol engine appears to be the most likely outcome. A 3.0-liter diesel engine is also a likely outcome. This EcoDiesel engine develops 260 horses and a torque of 480 lb-ft. Lastly, the high-performance SRT model could become a reality, along with the optional hybrid powertrain.

2024 RAM Dakota Price and Release Date

The price of the 2024 RAM Dakota will start somewhere between $25,000 and $30,000. Furthermore, the range-topping trim level will cost around $50,000, more or less. The sales will begin later next year. We are waiting to hear more details, including trim levels, powertrain options, and official price.
