From some rumors, the popular manufacturer is currently working on the new 2019 Jeep Scrambler. The model draws a lot of references to the extended Jeep CJ-8 pickups which premiered in the 1980s.
Several reports point out that the revived Scrambler nameplate will have a detachable top, a beefed-up rear axle, and a diesel engine option.
2019 Jeep Scrambler – Soft and Hard top Roofs will be Available
Contrary to the original Scrambler, the 2019 Jeep Scrambler is going to have a 2-door crew cab at the start of production. Scanned pictures of the expected Scrambler show that its frame stretches 33 inches longer than the current Jeep Wrangler. Both soft- and hard-top roofs will become available.
The Jeep manufacturer has shared with us photos showing legit specs for the new Scrambler Pickup. Apparently, the new truck frame measures 205 inches, about 33 inches longer compared to the incumbent 4-door JK Limited Wrangler frame. The Scrambler’s hard-top roof is expected to highlight a three-piece design and comes complete in either the black color or the body color.
The new vehicle has dropped some padding on the fenders, exposing protracted wheel arches that comprise a skinny hood. Its cargo bed is built from plastics or composites to save weight.
The Scrambler also has a plastic bed liner that resembles that of the Honda Ridgeline and Toyota Tacoma. A lot of innovative cargo management features are available, including a storage box or a version of the Ram Box. Rear taillights overhang from the corners, and the carmaker has added another step to the rear bumper.
As far as the 2019 Jeep Scrambler interior goes, the manufacturer uses similar interior elements found in the 2018 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited JL. The highlights encompass the dashboard, infotainment system, instrumentation, and seats. The current Wrangler’s ho-hum switch-gear and low-end plastics will be substituted with top-notch materials, soft-touch surfaces, and more buttons. These buttons are designed to control luxuries such as dual-zone climate control.
The new model retains the old-school, manual transfer case and a 6-speed manual gearbox. However, we haven’t heard any word yet concerning the likelihood of a manual-shift JT. We also are likely to find an 8.4-inch U-connect system as standard.
2019 Jeep Scrambler – Engine Rumors
We expect the 2019 Jeep Scrambler to use the same powertrain options as the Wrangler SUV. That said, the base unit is a 2.0-liter turbocharged “Hurricane” 4-cylinder engine.
Furthermore, we are likely to see a 3.0-liter Eco-Diesel engine making its appearance in the new 2019 Jeep Scrambler. This unit seems to be the best choice for enthusiastic off-roaders and those who plan to tow and haul.
All engines get a ZF 8-speed automatic transmission and four-wheel-drive across the board. A conventional, manually-operated transfer case will be standard. The 2-speed unit is availed with two-wheel-drive, four-wheel-drive high-range/ low-range as well as the neutral. We’ve also confirmed a 6-speed manual gearbox, though we don’t know which drivetrains it will be available.
MSRP and Debut
The details about the upcoming Jeep Scrambler pricing and debut are still unknown. However, all indications suggest a possible release in mid-2018. The entry-level pickup starts at approximately $34,500.
