2025 RAM 2500 Specifications

Significant changes are anticipated under the hood in the upcoming 2025 Ram 2500 refresh. One prominent area of focus is the transmission. Specifically for the diesel variant, which currently relies on a trusty yet aging 6-speed unit from Aisin. Competing transmissions offer superior performance with more gears, making a transmission upgrade a widely expected improvement for this refresh.

The transformation beneath the hood doesn’t stop there. Even the base gasoline version might receive an upgrade. Currently powered by a dependable 6.4-liter HEMI V8 generating 440 horsepower and 459 pound-feet of torque, rumors suggest a potential replacement with the new 3.0-liter inline-six, known as the Hurricane. This upgraded version could produce 510 horsepower and 510 pound-feet of torque. Like its predecessor, it would be paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox. Exciting changes await the 2025 Ram 2500.

While the replacement transmission remains uncertain, speculation abounds. Some sources suggest a potential switch to a 10-speed Allison transmission, while others propose that Aisin might introduce a new 10-speed unit. Regardless of the transmission choice, the stalwart 6.7-liter inline-six turbodiesel from Cummins will persist, possibly with increased power and torque. There’s also excitement about the possibility of a more robust engine variant, previously exclusive to the 3500 model, boasting a remarkable 1,105 pound-feet of torque.

2025 RAM 2500 max towing rates will be around 21.000 pounds, and for the max carry rate, we expect it to be in the range of 3300 pounds.
