After the 2022 model year, the next Gladiator should only make small changes. However, there’s going to be a 2023 Jeep Gladiator Hybrid. It’s a big upgrade, as the hybrid powertrain will bring power and efficiency. Fortunately, Jeep already makes a Wrangler 4xe version that doesn’t need extra technology and saves money. All in all, the Gladiator 4xe will use the hybrid system from the Wrangler SUV.
As you may remember, Gladiator’s first year was when it only had gasoline engines. In the second year of production, the EcoDiesel engine became available. Hybrid power will be available in the third year of production. This is great news for the mid-size pickup market. Now, Gladiator’s 4xe variant and the rest of its lineup will stay the same.
Jeep Gladiator Hybrid Specs
The upcoming 2023 Jeep Gladiator Hybrid will have the same powertrain as the Wrangler SUV. This is the only logical thing to do. It’s also true that we don’t know very much about the new Gladiator. We do, however, know everything about the Wrangler 4xe. The Jeep Wrangler can be bought with a hybrid engine and a four-door body. It comes in the Sahara trim level and higher.
This system pairs two electric motors to a turbo-four engine and the eight-speed TorqueFlite automatic transmission. Total output is rated at 375 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. Many reports are saying that Jeep plans to improve this setup, so the Gladiator 4xe model should deliver even more power. Jeep will also introduce the all-electric Magneto variant, but that won’t happen before 2024MY.
Updates
The new 2023 Jeep Gladiator Hybrid will only get small changes. Of course, we’re talking about changes to the way this truck looks. However, even the cabin will receive minor updates. To start, the design will make a few small changes, like making lines a little sharper or introducing new exterior colors. As for the interior, a new multimedia system and better driving aids will be installed.
The safety will be better, and Gladiator will come with more standard features than before. Aside from that, this pickup will be the same. Wrangler SUV will obtain serious updates in the next year or two, as the redesign is a must after Ford introduced the Bronco SUV.
Competition
The 2023 Jeep Gladiator Hybrid will compete in the mid-size pickup truck segment. This segment is full of established rivals, including Toyota Tacoma and Ford Ranger. Moreover, there are models such as Chevrolet Colorado and Nissan Frontier. Unlike mentioned models, Gladiator is a more off-road-oriented pickup truck.
Every manufacturer offers one off-road trim level, while Gladiator offers more than one. This model also provides unique features such as removable doors, a folding top, and a folding windshield. The Wrangler-based pickup truck also offers traditional combustion engines. You can choose between the standard gasoline V6 engine and an optional EcoDiesel powertrain.
Release Date, Price
While the base trim level starts at around $35,000, the new 2023 Jeep Gladiator Hybrid will cost above $40,000. However, we don’t know the exact pricing details. Anyway, it is the most powerful Gladiator model so far, and it will go on sale in the last quarter of 2022.
